Granite is an age–old material up to five billion years old. Granite consists completely of crystalline assemblage of Quartz, Felspar and Mica, with accessory minerals Apatite, Sphene and zircon. Granite’s durability, aesthetic appeal and economic performance lends itself well to the use of kitchen work surface material.
Granite will withstand extreme temperatures hot and cold, as well as being resistant to most liquids associated with kitchen use and food preparation. However, light coloured granite can be stained by strongly coloured substances such as red wine and blackcurrant juice. In order to minimise the effect of daily use, all granite work surfaces are treated during manufacturing with sealant, while general maintenance is simple; a basic non–abrasive surface cleaner will suffice. A lot of companies just silicon the sink units to the granite so after about a year the sink will fall out from weight from the water and wear and tear etc. this is NOT what we do. We use special granite clips to prevent this from happening. Here is a video showing when we fit your worktop, your sink won't fall out.
The granite worktop clips are sold in our showroom at £5.00 per clip. You need approximately 10 per sink unit. So for £50.00 you will know that your never going to need to call a builder, joiner, granite expert or plumber to come and fix the sink back into place and the leak that was caused by the sink dropping.
